Hello! I’m Kara. Thank you for visiting my site! I have been designing with faux florals for over 20 years and wow, have they come along way! When I hear the term “silk flowers” I cringe a bit. Today’s artificial flowers have a heightened level of sophistication with their bloom memory wire, natural looking dyes and most importantly a lifelike presentation.

As a teenager I was first exposed to my love of florals working at a local florist and then at an all-female landscaping company that focused on garden installations. You could see the joy that plants and flowers brought to people’s homes and I wanted to emulate that feeling.

For many years I would design floral arrangements and wreaths for fun and would gift them to friends and family. In 2018 I posted some designs online when a friend responded “why don’t you sell these on Etsy?” That one comment was a catalyst for opening an Etsy shop in 2018. I ran my etsy shop as a “side job” for years but trying to strike a healthy work/life balance seemed unattainable. In the fall of 2021 I made a giant leap! I left a 20 year career in HR, working with people I love, a company I loved and all the security that comes along with it, and built a formal workshop in my home and began the pursuit of my full-time freedom!

Can I say it’s always easy? Nope. Can I say that I am fortunate to do what I love for a living? 100%. There are so many free resources out there for entrepreneurs, two of my favorites are the Tory Burch Foundation, that provides a wealth of knowledge to women in business through grants, webinars and a fellowship program. The other is the national SCORE mentoring program.
